About Junior Curling
The junior program is designed for aspiring curlers ages 7 to 21 years. Our innovative Learn to Curl program offers a three level development program led by a group of experienced instructors. The distinct levels maximize enjoyment, and at the same time ensure that our curlers develop in a progressive manner. The cost is $98 plus Taxes.
Where do I get my equipment?
We will gladly provide a complimentary slider to each new junior member. After that, all you need is a helmet (hockey, or ski), clean shoes, and loose yet warm clothing. Brooms are provided on a weekly basis. If you prefer, you can purchase a curling broom and shoes.
When do you play?
The Level One session begins at 12:00pm until 1:00pm and is played on Sunday’s. Level 2 and level 3 juniors will play from 12:00pm til 1:30pm. October - March
What are the levels?
Level 1 – Beginner
This is the BEST starting point for a young curler. Starting as young as 7, these clinics are suited for beginning curlers up to 11 years of age. It is an excellent atmosphere to introduce juniors to the beginning basics.
Level 2 – Intermediate
This program is designed for young curlers that have reached the specific skill / performance benchmarks in the Hit the Button program. In the Double Takeout program the young curlers will continue to develop the FUNDAMENTALS of curling and the performance benchmarks will include strong mechanics with a traditional curling stone. Curlers successfully completing this program are ready to curl.
Level 3 – Advanced
After reaching the specific skill / performance benchmarks in the Double Takeout program the Hit and Roll program begins to focus on fine tuning the delivery mechanics, become an effective sweeper, understand teamwork and refine curling strategy.
